Site Access and Safety
Every second Sunday of the month the Friends of the National Arboretum Canberra
host an open day between 10am and 4pm. In addition to the usual ability to walk
or cycle or ride a horse on the site on Sundays you can drive your car. See the
calendar of events for access dates.
However, whilst the Arboretum remains a construction site, the following public
access guidelines must be adhered to:
- Strictly No Entry Monday to Saturday.
- Pedestrian, equestrian and cycling access is permitted on Sundays, during daylight
hours only.
- Please keep to roads and paths at all times.
- Remain vigilant for wildlife and site hazards. Brown snakes have been sighted at
the Arboretum, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for your safety.
- Dogs must be on a lead, or under the control of their handler at all times. Dog
owners must ensure wildlife on the site is not impacted by their dog. Dog owners
must comply with all relevant Territory regulations.
