Keep an eye out for Red-tailed black cockatoos

Living in Canberra, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos are a regular sight, and if you are lucky you also get to experience the majestic (and loud) Black Cockatoo. 

There are five different black cockatoos in Australia and most of them are now considered rare.

The Friends of the Arboretum's forest of Allocas verticillata is aimed at assisting the black cockatoos. 

recent article in the Canberra Times looks at the South-eastern red-tailed black cockatoo's and researchers believe that their shrill screech may help save it from extinction.
