2020 Volunteer of the Year - Ange McNeilly!

2020 VolrOfYr-AngeMcNeilly
Ange has given an above-average commitment of hours.  She has managed the Harvest Discovery Garden since its inception n 2016, working there every week, organising the roster, training volunteers, reporting on activities on a monthly basis, managing the budget, planning and designing, liaising with Arboretum staff, mulching fertilising, watering ...

Ange not only manages the Discovery Garden, but is an integral part of the Market Stall team.  She has developed many products for sale at the Stall which increase the Stall's appeal and profit and which in turn go to the Friends coffers for further projects.  Ange also writes articles for inclusion in our quarterly Friends Newsletter.

In late 2019, Ange submitted a proposal to the Friends' Council to grow Wollemi Pine trees commercially from seed.  This required exacting skills of researth, horticultural knowledge and liaison with Arboretum staff and Yarralumla Nursery staff.  And persuasion and persistence!

We all admire Ange's huge passion and support for the Arboretum.  Her leadership has benefited the Friends and the Arboretum, and we thank her so much for all Ange does in our midst!
